For the upcoming fashion week, “inclusiveness” is now the in thing and “connecting” directly to the consumer is the topic of conversation. These concepts all run counter to the traditional structure of the hottest week in fashion.
Back in December, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) decided to employ a Boston Consulting Group to explore ways to adjust Fashion week’s traditional format into a customer-facing event.
“We have designers, retailers and everybody complaining about the shows,” declared its president Diane von Furstenberg in December. “Everything needs to be rebooted.
The changes being proposed are focused on revitalizing the fashion week experience, expanding overall marketing reach and increasing the consumer base. If these changes are successful it will truly revolutionize the fashion world.
This is truly an exciting time in the world of fashion!
